Description
Photo shows some of the 16 tugboats tied up at the Los Angeles harbor when deckhands of the boats went on strike. The walkout of the tugboat workers came as other striking maritime unions were voting on proposals to end the 94-day Pacific Coast waterfront tieup. Members of the crew of the steamship Catalina that runs between the mainland and Catalina Island refused to pass through picket lines of the tugboat strikers and sailings were cancelled. Photo dated: February 1, 1937.
