Description
This interior shot of a full venue at the Music Circus, at 1419 H Street, was made in 1970. By 1975, the tent, constructed for a cost of 40,000 dollars, could seat nearly 2,600 viewers. The interior was kept cool by way of 1,000 feet of tubing for carrying water to four large blowers. Notable performers to appear at the Music Circus were Jim Nabors, Soupy Sales, Jose Ferrer and Marlene Dietrich. The famous blue and green-colored tent was last used in August 2002 with a showing of "Paint Your Wagon," and giving way to the Teflon-covered 12 million dollar Wells Fargo Pavilion.
