Photograph caption dated November 10, 1962 reads, "Pierce College plays Glendale College Friday night, and all the chips will be on the line: the Western State Conference football championship and a possible post-season bowl date. Glendae's [sic] football Vaqueros raised a few eyebrows romping past Harbor College 80-0, while Pierce preferred to give everyone a chance to log game time, while beating Ventura College, 44-0." Photograph caption reads, "Pierce College's Walt Newton races 46 yards against Ventura - Don Melton blocks three Pirate tacklers to set up Pierce score."
