Photograph caption dated September 27, 1963 reads "Lorenzen receives Fernando award - west Valley businessman Donald D. Lorenzen, left, is congratulated by Mayor Samuel W. Yorty, center, and West Valley Councilman Thomas Shepard for receiving the Valley's top civic award. The solid bronze trophy was presented to Lorenzen Thursday at a dinner at Sportsmen's Lodge in Studio City. Some 250 persons were present, including city and county officials, for the affair sponsored by Valley chambers of commerce. Lorenzen is the fifth recipient of the award presented annually to the citizen who has done the most for the Valley as a whole."
