Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni discusses her novel, “Queen of Dreams.” She begins by explaining that the book is about a woman who finds out that her dead mother was a dream interpreter. She discusses the girl's close relationship with her mother, and how she often ignored her father because of that. Martinson asks Divakaruni to read a passage about a girl reading her mother’s diary. Divakaruni talks about discrimination against Eastern Indians in America after the September 11, 2001 attacks. She ends the interview by discussing how large multinational corporations are taking over smaller independent businesses.
