Description
A woman in evening dress for 1829. She wears a blue, wide brimmed hat with pink edging. White bows with red stripes decorate the hat as well as two bunches of large, pale yellow feathers. She wears teardrop-shaped, dangling, pearl earrings and a twisted pearl necklace with a gold pendant. Her dress is pink with white trim around the neck and at the cuffs. The sleeves are short and puffed and she wears white gloves with gold cuff bracelets on top. Two ruched pieces of pink fabric make a "V" from her shoulders to the bottom center of the bodice. Around her waist is a pink and blue sash, tied into a small bow in front with long ends which cascade down the front of her dress. The pink skirt of the dress is plain with a wide decorated band at the hem. The fabric is folded and ruched to create a full, bubble hem. Spherical rosettes with small shapes of fabric attached are spaced across the top of this band, like stylized roses with leaves.
