Bust-length portrait.
Born in Castine, Maine, in 1819 of Doty Little and Hannah Briggs Thomas; married Loretta Jones in 1843. Came to California in 1849 via S.S. Crescent City from New York to Chagres, SS.Oregon from Panama to California. Settled initially in Coloma where operated a ferry, an emporium and was first Postmaster; moved on the San Francisco around 1854 where worked as merchant, real estate agent, loan broker. Died in 1891.
