Photograph caption dated October 3, 1962 reads "City Councilman Everett G. Burkhalter checks plans with Mrs. Alice E. Thomas for the California Women's Civil Defense Conference to begin Friday in Anaheim. Mrs. Thomas, Pacoima, is the city of Los Angeles' assistant deputy for Civil Defense. Registration blanks for the conference, which is open to all women's organizations, may be obtained by calling Mrs. Mary Munson at EMpire 6-1434 or Mrs. Thomas at Hollywood 2-1271, ext. 50."
