"Familie Weder. Gnadenthal." ("Family Weder. Genadendal."). The family members are standing in front of a house. In the foreground a younger woman, sitting on a stool. Behind her three men and three other women are standing next to each other. All are dressed in formal attire, the men wearing suits. The house is surrounded by a fence. On the right a small tree is visible. Cf. photo no. 12238. -- This family portrait must have been taken on the same day as photo no. 12238 because the members of the family are wearing the same clothes and hairstyles. -- Emil Hermann Karl Weder (1881-?) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine and worked as a missionary merchant in South Africa West from 1908-1928. His wife, Agnes Elise Weder, born Wedemann (years of birth and death unknown), married him in Genadendal on August 26th, 1908.
