Photo shows crowd celebrating Greek independence day in front of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Los Angeles. The anniversary of Independence Day (25 March 1821) is a National Day in Greece, which falls on the same day as the Annunciation. The Church of the Annunciation was the predecessor to St. Sophia. caption reads, "Celebrating the 122nd anniversary of Greece's independence, more than 2,000 Greeks of the southland staged impressive ceremonies at the Greek Community Church. Photo shows crowd during the program." Photo dated: March 25, 1943.
