Photograph caption dated May 17, 1961 reads "Mrs. Gloria La Forge, center in dark glasses, walked out of Division 68, Van Nuys Municipal Court, Tuesday, after being arraigned before Judge Francis A. Cochran on charges of assault with intent to commit murder. She is free without bail until her preliminary hearing May 28. The 72-year-old great-grandmother Monday night shot and critically wounded her granddaughter's boy friend, Valley band leader Jack Royal, after she accused him of breaking up the granddaughter's home. Royal is in fair condition today at Los Angeles General Hospital."
