Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. Photograph caption dated March 31, 1962 reads, "Tennis keeps Cirino fit - Athletic director instructs class". Photograph article partially reads, "For a football coach who wanted desperately to leave Pierce College, the post of director of athletics at the same institution of higher learning is a strange job indeed." Mike Cirino was also a football coach at San Fernando High School, Valley College and Los Angeles City College. He became the Pierce College director of athletics in 1961.
