Description
This photo appears in John Carr, Jr. and Jarrod Nunes' book "The San Jose Police Department" on p. 25 with the caption "San Jose police officers proudly display their patrol cars parked along St. James Park in 1924. From left to right are officers Kenneth Jordan, Ben Kelly, Ed Wolford, and Lewis Rogge (standing with shotgun). Up until the early 1930s, officers used their own personal vehicles for patrol. They were reimbursed by the city for gas and vehicle maintenance."
