Description
Photograph of a group of 5 people relaxing in the office of the Hotel Grand View, Grand Canyon, ca.1900-1930. Two men and a woman sit in rocking chairs reading. A boy sits in a chair beside a Franklin stove as he fiddles on a violin. Berry, the "trail builder", sits at a table working with something on the table. The rough walls are covered with paraphernalia associated with the American west including a several animal pelts, an American flag, and photographs. A monthly calendar, small plaques and a set of deer antlers (from which a leather binocular case hangs) are mounted on the wooden column at right near a table. The rafters are visible overhead and the floor is bare wood. On the table are a ledger, a pitcher and glass, open box of matches, and a small clock (10:00).
