Photograph caption dated May 8, 1957 reads "Traditional ceremonies mark start of construction on $1,500,000 warehouse building on twenty-two-acre tract at San Fernando road and Vaughn street. Plant will serve member stores in the Valley, as well as Ventura, Santa Barbara and Bakersfield areas. Those taking part, from left, Murray Yunker, first vice president and assistant general manager; Randolph Price, treasurer-comptroller; Robert Thomas, second vice president in charge of warehousing and transportation; Richard C. Holderness, secretary; John M. Alexander, manager of San Fernando Plant; Campbell Stewart, president and general manager; Frank Hale, chairman of the board, and Jack Woolsey, contact man for the San Fernando Valley area."
