Description
View of the south side of the diversion dam. Donor/Source: Ron Hanford (owned by Glenn Way) GMW 1450627. This photograph is taken from the opposite side of the Diversion Dam, the upstream side looking south. It is almost exactly opposite GMW 144. of unique interest in this photograph are the two rectangular holes in the side of the dam. GMW refers to these as "seasoning holes," areas left later filled in. The concrete itself was a special mix that would be water tight all the way through. "The concrete inspectors stayed right on the job all of the time." The worker on the side of the dam is probably stripping the lower forms. The debris on the ground is from forms that have been stripped away. The air compressors powering much of the equipment at camp 9 were actually located at camp 2, and the air piped down. There were portable air compressors that could be hauled around with tractors as well.
