Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee December 4, 1966 reads: "A plaque set up by the Native Daughters of the Golden West notes that James P. Rhoads was a member of one of the relief parties that tried to save the Donner Party. He settled in the Sloughhouse area and descendants still live there. His grave in the Sloughhouse Cemetery is surrounded by weeds and brush."
