Description
Black and white photograph showing two Nigerian men in traditional dress, standing in open ground. An older man wears a wrap around his waist and a middle aged man wears a wrap across his body. The men are in the village of Akpugo, modern Enugu state, Nigeria, and have been involved in the destruction of traditional Nigerian idols. The caption to this image reads: "Left - man who started movement for destruction of idols - Right - man from whose house 78 were removed." This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital, run by the Methodist Missionary Society in southeast Nigeria.
