Photograph of an interior view showing the room in which Mrs. Sarah L. Winchester in the Winchester "Mystery" House, Santa Clara (near San Jose), California, 1923. The floor is bare. The walls are covered with a textured wallpaper. The ceiling is covered with tin or plaster panels. A round ribbed cornice runs around the perimeter of the room. A metal pipe light fixture in the shape of a horizontal "X" hangs down from the ceiling. A fireplace with a granite or marble surround is inset in a small alcove in one wall of the room. The doorway to an adjoining corridor is at center.
