Description
Photograph of a drawing by Edward Vischer of "Departed Mission Relics" -- 4 California missions (Santa Cruz 1826, La Purisima Concepcion (Purissima) 1884, San Rafael 1831, and San Francisco Solano 1832), "rescued from oblivion by the strong early-life impressions, astounding memory, descriptive power and untiring obliging[...] of California's historian General Mar. Guad. Vallejo", ca.1870. Caption partially reads: "Presumable appearance, by elevations from the respective ground-plans, a most welcome contribution to complete this antiquarian collection, a lasting memento, from an interesting sojourn at Lachryma Montis, the General's congenial, truly arcadian home, October 10 to 15th of 1878." A small oval portrait of the General is inset in the caption.
