Description
K Street at Ninth circa 1924 is the site of this photograph featuring a marching band with their instruments at ease followed by a drill team, all of them dressed in military uniform. A large crowd of spectators lines the street, some sitting on the running-boards of automobiles, and business signs clearly identify the downtown merchants of the day, including Capitol Theatre (615 K Street), C.J. Heeseman Clothing (619 K Street), Mrs. Anna Bernstein Millinery (621 K Street), Scotch Tailors (623 K Street), Golden Eagle Hotel (627 K Street), and Bon Marche Women's Clothes (631 K Street). Rows of automobiles are parked along the street, a few of which have parade watchers looking out.
