Description
Dion Boucicault (1820-1890) to a Mr. Reade, withrawing an offer allowing Reade to attend a rehearsal of Boucicault's own play, The Octoroon, or Life in Luisiana, about the love of a white man for a black slave girl. The artists have asked that the "imperfection of a rehearsal not be made public."
