Shown is a circa 1938 postcard packet promoting Sacramento. Swiss-born John Sutter acquired the land via Mexican land grants to build a trading post. The open landscapes and accessibility through rail travel attracted merchants and settlers, making the valley city a beacon for trade and commerce.
