Kay Bogendorfer Orner was born in 1909. She was president of the Los Angeles Civil Service Commission from 1953-1960, and the first female postmaster in Van Nuys, serving from 1960-1972. She died in 1991. Photograph caption dated March 23, 1959 reads "Ralph De Armond, City Street Design Department employee for 35 years in Valley, receives pin recognition from Civil Service Commission President Mrs. Kay Bogendorfer in honor of service since 1924. He lives at 7055 Woodman Ave., Van Nuys."
