Photograph article dated February 16, 1949 partially reads, "Construction work now under way on a new channel at the intersection of Riverside Dr. and Whitsett St. in North Hollywood is delaying connecting of sewers in an 80-house subdivision along Collins, Miranda and Hatteras Sts. Between Whitsett and Bellaire Ave. Former GIs who bought homes there petitioned the city of Los Angeles recently to make the connections from the street to their homes so they wouldn't be dependent upon cesspools. But the construction job at Riverside and Whitsett may delay the necessary connections many months."
