These photographs are contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Five views of the new buildings along Van Ness Avenue which housed the downtown stores that temporarily relocated there after the 1906 disaster.
Caption to left of page 381 bottom: "1. N.W. corner of Van Ness and Bush. 2. Roos Bros. 3. Brunner's [sic] (Bruener's) Furniture. 4. White House. Pine & Van Ness." There are no corresponding numbers written on the photo, but the caption represents what is seen starting at the corner on the left and moving away. The sidewalks are crowded, autos and carriages are parked, and goods are being delivered. Caption to left of page 382 top: "N.W. Geary & Van Ness. Examiner office few doors west on Geary St." These stores were built in the front yards of a row of surviving houses and include A.& J. Levin. The sidewalks are crowded. Caption to left of page 382, center: "N.E. corner Pine & Van Ness." The store at the corner is O'Connor, Moffat & Co. Carts and wagons are delivering goods.
Caption to left of page 382 bottom: "N.E. Sutter and Van Ness." Store at the corner is Pauson & Co. Clothiers. Carts and wagons are driving up Van Ness. A well-dressed lady is crossing the street. Caption to left of page 383 top: "N E Van Ness Ave. & California St." Building at the corner houses Gruenhagen's, and the Gantner & Mattern Co. Several women are standing at the corner. A man is crossing the street close to the camera at the left.
