Photograph caption reads, "First public school in North Hollywood was erected in 1889 and was attended by many Valley men and women who became pioneer settlers and business people of community. Arrow indicates Fred Weedington who graduated in second class. Bell visible is now displayed at entrance to Lankershim Grammar School on Bakman Avenue. Original site of school will be commemorated by permanent bronze marker at 5236 Lankershim Blvd., as part of Public Schools Week observance this week."
