Description
A young Marilyn de Forest stands, held up in the palm of Henry Hotz's right hand. Hotz was Lee de Forest's chauffeur for several years in the 1920s. According to a letter written by Lee de Forest to Mrs. Fay Rowsome, who was researching the Hotz family, dated 14 May 1956, Hotz accompanied Mrs. de Forest (Mary Mayo) on her travels in France, Belgium, and possibly Germany and Austria, as well as in Monte Carlo, where Lee de Forest first met him. De Forest writes, "For years I have had a wonderful picture of him holding my young daughter, Marilyn, by the two feet in his hand, a picture taken during our last trip to New York from Europe."
