Description
The annual rodeo often drew between 18,000 to 25,000 spectators from all over California and neighboring Western states. Roy Baker, brother of shoe magnate C.H. Baker, built the stadium and sponsored the event from 1927-1930. The area later became the site of the Saugus Speedway, located at 22500 Soledad Canyon Road.
Rodeo cowboys enjoy themselves at Baker Ranch (Saugus Speedway) near Saugus. Bronco busting, steer bulldogging, trick riding and fancy roping all took place at the rodeo. Photo dated May 6, 1929.
