Redwood Region. Prairie Creek State Park, north of Orick, California. The only native and wild band of Roosevelt elk in California. Since domestic cows were removed from this prairie pasture (Boyes Prairie) and dogs were controlled, the elk have bcome tame enough to come into the pasture in large numbers.
