Description
"Wedding of the rails", a re-enactment of the ceremony celebrating the connection of Los Angeles and San Francisco by the Southern Pacific Railroad, showing a crowd behind the railroad tracks, 1926. The railroad tracks lie above a mound of jagged rocks in the foreground with a crowd of people dressed in costumes behind it. A young girl stands at center in a large, western-style dress, a feathered hat and a small umbrella at her side. The men around her are dressed in dark suits and top hats while a couple to her right are dressed as Native Americans. Boys watch the event from a wooden structure in the background.
