"To Soldiers of Nyasaland who fell in Somaliland. At Zomba, Barracks behind". Exterior view of a war memorial
"In memory of the following officers, non-commissioned officers and men who were killed in the action of Gumburru 17th April 1903, Daratoleh 22nd April 1903, Jidballi 19th January 1904, or Died in Somaliland 1902-1904". It is a stone memorial with a brass plaque listing those who died. The Zomba military barracks can be seen in the background with uniformed guards. ❧ From a Photograph Album of the Blantyre Mission, Nyasaland [Malawi] and the Mihecani Mission, Portuguese East Africa [Mozambique].
