Description
The war memorial rock sits in front of Mill Valley City Hall. The rock came from Wolfback Ridge above Sausalito. Following an extended period of rain, the rock rolled down the hill and blocked Highway 101 near what was then named Waldo Tunnel in 1953. The California Highway Patrol hired Tony Brabo, a local concrete contractor, to remove the rock from the roadway, and Mill Valley's City Manager, Allen Almquist, decided it should be moved to City Hall.
