Photograph of Coloma Valley showing the South Fork of the American River, ca.1930. Trees and grass blanket most of the view of the valley. In the center, a cleared strip can be seen with several buildings on the right of it. A lightly-colored tower can be seen at the right side of the clearing with a field behind it. Several other fields can be seen in the back on the left while mountains paint the background. Picture file card reads "The exact center of the photo is the site of Marshall's gold discovery in 1848 (January). In the background Mount Perry on left and Mount Murray on right. The white building is the Town Hall of Coloma".
