Photograph article dated February 9, 1965 partially reads, "The Valley Committee of the Spastic Children's League will hold a benefit Day at the Races Feb. 19 at Santa Anita. Mrs. Melvin Erickson, event chairman, is being assisted by Mrs. Edmund O. Schaffer Jr. Luncheon will be served on the clubhouse terrace. A race will be named for the group. Mrs. Ferdinand Mendenhall, president, and Mrs. Erickson will be photographed in the winner's circle... Proceeds will benefit the Spastic Children's Foundation Training Center in Los Angeles." Pictured are, Mrs. Ferdinand Mendenhall, Van Nuys, president; Mrs. James Roberts, Van Nuys, and Z. James Zamiechowski, Encino.
