Photograph caption dated July 2, 1964 reads, "'Queen of the missions,' Santa Barbara, has the oldest and best documented museum of all the missions in the Franciscan chain. Active since Dec. 4, 1786, part of its decor was taken from a Roman artist's work dating back to 27 B.C."
