Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated September 13, 1956 reads "Off to market. Orville Rodricks loads station wagon with crates of eggs for transport to market. Rodricks raises 1,300 white leghorn layers on ranch at 5825 Shirley Ave., Tarzana. He credits wife with getting him into business she first entered as hobby. One of oldest commercial poultry ranches in Valley was in Northridge, but backyard business started with Weeks colony in Canoga Park where many retired to an acre chicken ranch, later turned pastime into paying business.
