"Die Kirchenkonferenz auf der Werf in Elim." ("The church conference on the mission premises in Elim."). The picture shows a group of 31 men of European and African and maybe also mixed and Indian origin. Nine men sit on chairs in the first row, the others stand behind them. In the background a building surrounded by a fence and partly covered by trees on the left and right side. On the right stands another building. Written on the card board: "Br. Baudert 1930." ("Br[other] Baudert 1930."). The word "Werf" is a term taken from Afrikaans. -- The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
