Description
1999-0337 ART, ORIGINAL-VA-S: DIXON, MAYNARD Two paper boards with original painted sketches for posters for the Days of '49 Celebration in Sacramento, May 23-28. Sketch 1 (1999-0337) shows three men (pioneer with outstretched arms, man in top hat, and man in indian blanket) and a stagecoach (left); on the back, drafts of a Spanish man, and two small, brief colored sketches of a poster. Sketch 2 (1999-0338) shows a woman in a Spanish costume, a burro, and a pioneer with outstretched arms holding his hat, stagecoach (left) and buildings (right).
