"Gedenktafel an der Kirche in Elim." ("Commemorative plaque on the church in Elim."). The commemorative plaque on the wall of the church is placed between two windows. It reads: "OPGERIGT TER GEDACHTENIS VAN HET HONDERDJARIGE BESTAAN VAN ELIM, 1DE AUGUSTUS 1824-1924. LOOF DEN HEER MYNE ZIEL EN VERGEET GEENE VAN ZYNE WELDADEN." ("Raised in commemoration of the centennial existence of Elim, 1st [of] August 1824-1924. Praise the lord, my soul and don't forget any of his good deeds."). Cf. photo no. 09617. -- The inscription is not in modern Afrikaans but in an older version of that language.
