Photograph of a view of the front of Mission San Gabriel lined with pepper trees, ca.1886. Four bells are visible in the six niches of the bell tower atop of which is perched a cross at left. A pergola partially shades a small area enclosed by a picket fence directly below. A line of 10 buttresses support the tall thick walls of the church at right.
