Photograph caption dated July 7, 1956 reads, "Work progresses on Valley reactor - Core cavity liner, left, for sodium graphite nuclear reactor now under construction by North American Aviation for Atomic Energy Commission is set in place in Santa Susana Mountains, west of Canoga Park. Reactor is being built in connection with AEC program to develop electric power from atomic energy."
