Description
Photograph of New adobe dwellings in the village of Mishongnovi, ca.1900. In the foreground at left, a Hopi girl wrapped in a blanket can be seen. Further to the left, a line of rocks is visible. At center, a series of adobe dwellings can be seen. In front of the structures at center, a line of rocks and a gnarled log can be seen. Many of the buildings in the village are multilevel. Small wooden ladders seen beside many of the structures are the only means to reach these higher levels. The village further extends far to the right.
