Description
Shown are four imposing views of the California Governor’s Mansion at the intersection of Sixteenth and H streets, in this 1980 postcard. Designed by architect N. D. Goodell and built by contractor Uriah Reese in the mid 1870s as a residence for businessman Albert Gallatin and his family, the structure was sold to the State of California in late 1902/1903 when the area was still blocks removed from a busy downtown Sacramento.
