George Minot discusses his novel, “The Blue Bowl” He shares the plot of the book, which follows a young painter, Simon Curtis, who becomes the prime suspect in his father’s murder trial. In the novel, Minot portrays children scarred by their father’s alcoholism and their mother’s sudden death. Minot explains how the death of his own mother influenced not only his writings, but also those of his two sisters, Eliza Minot and Susan Minot. During the interview, Connie Martinson compares Minot’s writing to Russian literature.
