Watching the byplay are, from left, Bettye Fry, North Hollywood; Virginia Rainwater of Reseda, holding sign; Elizabeth Crowley, Los Angeles, and Florence Dittmar, Van Nuys. All are entrants in this year's race, beginning July 3, which will stretch from Gillespie Field, El Cajon, to Lovell Field, Chattanooga, Tenn."
