Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated October 22, 1949 partially reads, "Valley detectives today blamed on juvenile pranksters an explosion that rocked homes in a section of North Hollywood last night. The blast which occurred in the Los Angeles River near Aqua Vista St. and Fair Ave. was felt by residents over a mile square area, and was described by one man as a ‘blue flash explosion that shook the area just like an earthquake.’ Investigating officers found remains of a coffee can that had been filled with explosive power set off by a 30 foot fuse.” Officer Robert Rice with bystanders, examine fuse.
