The Corte Madera Branch of the Marin County Free Library opened in January 1928 in the Parkside Hotel building (pictured here), which it shared with the Post Office. In 1941, the library relocated closer to the Larkspur-Corte Madera School, to a portion of the former automotive showroom of Harold Bates. In 1954, a new community recreation building was constructed, with space provided for the library. On November 31, 1971, the Corte Madera Regional Branch opened in a new building on Meadowsweet Drive.
