Photograph caption dated October 30, 1962 reads "Van Nuys High School will be one of the many city teams that begins the 1963-64 basketball season Wednesday. Pictured is Van Nuys' starting five for their non-league game tomorrow at Cleveland. They are, left, coach Waymon Schofstall, Ron Dean, Joe Truxton, Steve Bates, Kerry Casey and Tom Mercer. All five starters are non-lettermen."
