Photograph of a view of San Francisco's Sutro Heights ca.1895. The picture looks out on the bay, where there are eight ships visible, six of them in one group near the center of the picture. In the foreground, there is a white fence on the top of a hill, and it appears that this fence borders a path down the hill to the buildings whose roof and cupolas are visible below. Across the bay are two ridges, and there appears to be a settlement of some sort near the water.
